Currently, the most common AGV navigation technologies on the market are: magnetic stripe navigation, QR code navigation, visual navigation, and laser navigation. So this issue we will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of various navigation methods, so that everyone can choose a more suitable AGV robot based on their own situation.

1. Magnetic stripe navigation
The advantage of magnetic stripe navigation is that the laying of magnetic tracks can make the positioning of AGV more accurate, and the cost of magnetic stripes is relatively low. The disadvantage is that it can only walk according to the magnetic stripe, and the task cannot be changed at any time. When the task needs to be changed, the track needs to be re-laid, and the magnetic stripe is easy to break and needs regular maintenance.
2. QR code navigation
The positioning of QR code navigation is accurate, compact and flexible. It is also easier to lay and change the path, which is convenient for controlling communication and has no interference with sound and light. The disadvantage is that the path needs to be maintained regularly. If the site is complex, the QR code needs to be replaced frequently.
3. Visual navigation
The advantage of visual navigation is that the hardware cost is low and the positioning is relatively accurate. The disadvantage is that its technology is not mature enough, and it has high requirements for the surrounding environment such as the ground and light. When the operating area is large, the time to draw the navigation map will also be extended.
4. Laser navigation
Laser navigation can flexibly plan the path, accurately locate, and the driving path is flexible and changeable. The construction is relatively convenient and can adapt to various use environments. It is indeed more expensive to produce.
As the technology of laser navigation becomes more mature, laser navigation has gradually become the mainstream navigation method for AGV\AMR handling robots.
